Writer's Block Wednesday (#26)... even though it's Thursday

This week's word is sympathy. After pondering on it and reflecting on past experiences, I came up with this....

Nothing left to say

you heard me
but you failed to listen

you fell
for his smile
the one that lingers in your mind
even when you're not in his presence

got mesmerized
by his scent
manly
yet fresh and so clean

got captured
by his eyes
hazel and alluring
seeing yourself in the reflection

got lost
in his embrace
those strong hands
roaming
exploring
caressing
and teasing

got caught up
in the words
falling from his
full lips
deep sexy voice
telling you
I love you, Boo
You the best I ever had
You complete me
I'll never hurt you...

you took
his hand
he stole
your heart

you fell in love

forgetting all about
the tears I shed
when he was my man

the stories
i shared
about how he did me wrong

you heard me
but you failed to listen

he left you
with a broken heart
tear stained pillow
and a negative bank account

i have
no sympathy
for you

the warning signs were there
you selected
to ignore them

and now
there's nothing left to say

Writer's Block Wednesday (#25)

The word this week is LOVE...how befitting with this being the week of Valentine's Day. Love is a simple word with such power behind it.
So, here's a simple poem:

Delicate Intervention

Let's meet
over a glass
of iced green tea

Have a conversation
about you and me

Let's talk awhile
so we can see

if you and I
can agree

if this relationship
is truly meant to be

Writer's Block Wednesday (#24)

It has been almost a month since I have posted for Writer's Block Wednesday. All I can say is, "thanks for waiting for me."
The word this week is SKIP. This word took me back to my childhood and the games we used to play. So with that being said, here is what I got. As always, reflect, relax and enjoy...

childish games

Since the way you are acting
can only be described as
childish
i must break it down
for you
like this...

1, 2
we are through
3, 4
leave the key to the door
5, 6
not falling for your tricks
7, 8
forget the code to the gate
9, 10
you're stubborn so i'll say it again

one two
there is no more me and you
three four
don't wanna see you anymore
five six
this is really it
seven eight
your sorry is much too late
nine ten
peace out cause this is the end

game over
you lose

Black History Month

As a Black woman, I think it is only right that my first post of February be in honor of Black History month. The short piece I am sharing tonight is one that I came across some years ago, but it has stuck with me. So much so, that I have it posted on my refrigerator! The art work accompanying this post is by none other than Frank Morrison.....he is indeed an inspiration.
Happy Black History Month!

Black Is

Black is something to laugh about
Black is something to cry about
Black is serious
Black is a feeling
Black is us... the beautiful people
