This thing called "creative writing"....

I am a writer. I am a poet. When I dare to say that out loud with true feeling and emotion, it feels right. I have been writing "creatively" for as long as I can remember. It is what I do. It is so much a part of who I am. I write poetry, short stories, plays, novels, and the occasional love letter. Fast forward to 3 minutes ago...I now write a blog.

Why write a blog? Simple, writing is a partnership: writer and reader required. Why now? Simple, why not now?

Why "Milk and Honey"? Cause milk is the necessity...we need to milk to grow. "Milk" is the word of GOD. HE is my daddy. The giver of my gift. I worship and adore Him. "Honey" is the nicety...we need honey to make us smile.

Thus begins this blog journey. I plan to post my original poetry, short stories..whatever God leads me to post. So come back and visit from time to time. I'll be here. Enjoying a warm glass of milk and a spoonful of honey.

Thanksgiving dinner: mac and cheese, Grandma's collard greens, sweet potatoes and buttermilk pie

It makes me full, but I sneak another plate

Poetry is...

Wet sloppy kisses, touches, caresses, midnight snacks and satisfied smiles

It leaves me wanting more

Poetry is...

Riding bikes fast down hills, friends on the handle bars

Grape Now or Later from the corner store

Rushing home before the street lights come on

It creates memories and brings me joy

Poetry is...

Flicking on the kitchen light watching the cockroaches scatter

Past due notices piled up on the table

Disconnected phone lines and Banquet pot pies

It makes me stronger

Poetry is...

Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores...easy like Sunday Morning

A Wonder like Stevie...makes me weak and knocks me off my feet

It is music for my soul
