Branches From My Tree

Today marked the last day of school for my two school aged children. My princess finished 2nd grade and my prince completed his Freshman year of high school. It has been a great school year and we are looking forward to a busy but fun summer. In honor of their accomplishments, this post tonight will showcase their writing talents. from Dick's Sporting Goods and shoelaces

I am grass from our beautiful backyard

green and smooth... it feels like silk

I am from the rose bush, the California redwood

its branches extend like open arms

I am from going to church on Sundays and elegant brown skin

from Granddad Alfred and Uncle Adam

I'm from smarts and the athletics

From God is my Lord and keeper

"You will do something great one day"

I'm from a populous Christian society

I'm from Arizona, Lemon cake and collard greens

From the war my Uncle Bunny fought in and

from the stage my mother performs on

I'm from the cedar trunk full of photo albums

Black and white pictures of weddings, babies and picnics

I am a gift from God

destined to be great
