we became friends out of convenience

we remained friends out of necessity

but now

the battle lines have been drawn

pride resides in the middle

"Red rover, Red rover"

will not send either one of us over

crossing the line

can not erase time

won't take us back

to how we use to be

laughing, gossiping

sharing, depending

we gotta decide

both you and I

if our friendship

is worth it...
